I only just got home from work and it’s almost midnight! Ugh! I wouldn’t mind if I didn’t have to be back at work tomorrow morning. I can’t complain too much, I had all this morning and afternoon today off, so that was fun
I was up way too early this morning. I wasn’t even that hungry, just tired of sleeping (is that possible?). Since I didn’t need to eat right away, I took my time to make waffles.
I used my usual protein pancake batter (found here). I made the waffles thin and crispy, which led to a much larger mountain! I covered them in the rest of my fresh berries. After digging my way through these, I promptly went back to bed and slept for another 90 minutes. And that right there is why I cannot complain about working till midnight tonight.
I had an early lunch so I could digest before my bike ride.
Some PC meatless deli slices and swiss cheese on pita bread, microwaved for optimal melty-ness. And a sliced red delicious covered in cinnamon. On a scale of 1-10, this lunch was a 10. Melty cheese? Check! Pita bread? Check! Fruit? Check! That’s all I need!
I also had my pre-workout snack of champions.
I’m not sure if dates + PB are actually a magical workout food, but I swear it gives me more energy. It’s either the sugar in the dates, or all in my head

I felt so h-core wearing these today. Almost like a legit cyclist. Now all I need is a flashy jersey and my clipless pedals on. Although, that may just make me look more like a fool!
I biked the same route as last time. I like it because there are no traffic stops, and it’s on a fast road with a wide paved shoulder. But I realized today I need to find a new one. The wind was bad again and it took me 10 minutes longer on the way back because I was fighting it the whole time. I think learning to ride against the wind is a good thing, but I’d like to get an idea of how fast I’m going without having to factor that in.

I’m loving the calorie burn from cycling! My heart rate is even going down too, I imagine because I’m getting more efficient at it. Oh, and the shorts didn’t do much for the pain during the ride, but I’m experiencing no after-ride crotch pain, which is a huge improvement. I’m still going to give adjusting the seat a try.

Then I had some potassium + PB.
And a PVL cran’ raspberry whey cooler for my protein.
I love these things. Only 80 calories for 20g protein and they are really refreshing after a workout. Often much easier to stomach than a thick shake after a vigorous workout.
Supper was a repeat from earlier in the week because it was so good the first time.
A Sol spicy black bean burger with PC mild salsa on top of sautéed spinach, red pepper, garlic and more black beans. I made a small cold salad to accompany this, but i couldn’t even touch it. This plate filled me to the brim! Must be all the fibre goodness in the beans. And the massive amount of raw spinach I cooked down to nothing. (3 HUGE handfuls)
Another fun thing I did today was paint my nails! I haven’t done this in 3 years!
I always kept my nails short and unpainted because I worked as a barista for so long and play guitar. But I’ve been feeling pretty un-fancy lately (I’ve been living in yoga pants since December) so in keeping with my new promise to be good to myself, I treated myself to a manicure
I give it three days before I peel it off. It’s already chipped
That’s it my friends. I am pooped and ready to hit the hay. I’m basically working during all my waking hours tomorrow, so I probably won’t be able to update. I suggest you go do something fun with your Friday, then come back and tell me about it so I can live vicariously through you!

i think you look fab in your new bike shorts! Your nails look great too. I have a hard time not picking at nail polish when I wear it..but it really does make my hands look so much better!

cute nails! i am a toenail polish type of gal, i tend to chip at the nail polish if it is on my fingers. yours look pretty though! i have such a shaky hand i cant do it on my own!

Your butt will get used to the bike. Mine never gets sore anymore, and I don’t even wear padded shorts! I think the sit bones just get calloused or something (doesn’t that sound attractive??).
You know what will make you look even more hard core? Gloves for biking. I like wearing gloves – I actually use the same ones I do for lifting and it makes the ride more comfy.

Please give more details on the cooler, is it a brand available in the states?
Also, I don’t like colored polish on my fingernails so I am a pedicure only gal (sometimes clear on my fingers). Although I love a trip to the salon, my trick for at home is to polish my toes in the evening, let dry, apply lotion, wear socks to sleep, any polish on the skin should easily peel off during a morning shower.

I just bought a pair of biking shorts and I feel the same way- crazy hardcore haha. I just bought a road bike and I’m very scared about how the seat is going to feel. The guy in the store was laughing at me because he said I kept hunching instead of leaning forward, I’m like I WOULD lean forward if the seat did not feel like it was going to go places it should not!!!
Why do they have to make those seats so uncomfortable? I mean seriously!
