I think I found an apartment!!! Yay!!! I still have to put in my application for it, and I know there are a few other people interested. I hope I get it! It’s a small bachelor apartment within walking distance to work. I like it because it’s in a house and not a generic apartment building. It’s got a backyard, barbecue and a vegetable garden (!!). Also, there is a full set of stairs in what would be my apartment, it’s almost like two small floors. Just think of the kick-butt workouts I could do on those stairs!
Cross your fingers I get it!! My current lease isn’t up until September 1st, but it would be nice to get a place now and not have to worry about it all summer!
I was up way too early this morning to satisfy my rumbling tummy. I went with something quick and yummy.

Two Nature’s Path maple cinnamon waffles with sunflower seed butter and sugar-free syrup. Then a couple egg whites with laughing cow cheese to get all my macronutrients in…

Wow, when paired with some fat and protein, waffles are one filling meal. I went back to sleep for about 45 minutes after this, but it held me over until almost noon.
I had my usual pre-workout snack of a banana + PB.

I also had a couple dates with this too. I think I may have eaten it a little too early. I waited 90 minutes until exercising, which is usually perfect for running or swimming. But halfway through my bike ride I was starving. I guess biking is pretty easy on the tummy, so it doesn’t have to be done on a near-empty stomach like the other two.
Today’s ride was… interesting. The first half was awesome. I was flying through my usual route, thinking I’d developed some sweet new biking skillz. Then, as soon as I turned around to come back, I was hit by a wall of wind. Apparently, my speed wasn’t due to my mad skillz, but the wind pushing me. Needless to say, the ride back was slow and tough, it took me an extra 15 minutes to get back.
Duration: 1 hour and 14 minutes
Calories: 559
Max HR: 160
Avg HR: 141
Distance: 26.7 km
Avg Speed: 22 km/h
On the bright side, my gear shifting is becoming more intuitive and smoother. This biking thing is really growing on me. Chris was pretty confident it would become my favourite triathlon sport. I don’t think I’m there yet, but I do see a lot of cycling in my future after the tri. I’m having fun learning all about it and I want to get good!
Lunch was the exact same thing I had yesterday. It was good then and just as good today!

I was too busy gobbling it up to take a picture of inside the pita, but it had similar contents.
- sunflower hummus
- swiss cheese
- sliced turkey breast
- onions
- tomato
- spinach
And some juicy, juicy carrots on the side
Afterward I did a bunch of stretching and foam rolling. I’m happy to report that biking hasn’t made my hip pain any worse and the pain in my calf from the Charley horse is gone! Yay! However, half my left foot is purple and swollen from dropping a frying pan on it, but that’s unrelated I guess… In case you haven’t figured it out yet, I’m a total klutz. The fact that I’ve gone through a weight lifting program and now tri training with only minimal injuries is nothing short of a miracle.
I was looking at apartments and running errands over suppertime, so I brought a snack to keep me going till my late dinner.

A lemonzest Luna bar. This is one of the four flavours of Luna bars my grocery store carries. I’m not the biggest fan of it, but I wanted something different from the normal chocolate ones I get. It was actually too sweet for me and tasted like cheap candy. Even left my hands greasy.
Dinner was an egg and tofu scramble, aka a bowl o’ protein.
- 1/2 block extra-firm tofu
- 1 egg
- 1/4 chopped onion
- 1/2 chopped red pepper
- 6 mushrooms
- 2 handfuls spinach
- 2 scoops salsa
- cajun seasoning
- laughing cow cheese wedge
I also forgot to mention the new challenge I’m taking part in this month!! It’s Mizfit’s clutter challenge. The idea is to “lose 30 things in 30 days.” This challenge is basically meant for me. I am the Clutter Queen. I just have too much junk! And you know what? Living in junk stresses me out! It does not reflect the healthy life I try to lead. I think a happy mind and body need a healthy space to live in. So everyday I’m doing some de-cluttering. I forgot about it yesterday, so I grabbed two big items today.

These are actually two bags of clothes from when I cleaned out my closet two months ago. I mean, what’s the point in getting rid of clothes if they’re just going to move from your closet to the living room? This challenge couldn’t come at a better time for me. I’ve got a lot of crap to go through to get me ready for my move!
I know I promised some singing today, but I can’t upload the giant .wav file to wordpress. Nor do I have a way to convert files on my laptop. I’ll see if I can convert the file at work this weekend. You’ll just have to wait! You’re not missing much really, a million people can sing better than I. But I guess that’s not what music is really about, is it? If that were the case, Bob Dylan would be a nobody.
I should have also probably mentioned that my broadcast voice is much different than my normal speaking one! Some people don’t even recognize me on the radio! Obviously I don’t e-nun-ci-ate as much in normal speak
Well, my new cycling book is calling my name. So far it’s really good! I’ll do a full review of it when I finish. See ya for hump day!

I hope you get that apartment! It sounds awesome– that’s so cool that it has a veggie garden. I’m sending good vibes your way!
I’m glad you’re enjoying the biking, and that it’s not hurting your hip! That’s great.
Your pita sounds delicious, and that dinner looks awesome! I’m glad the decluttering challenge is going well. I’ve also been going through all my clothes and donating a lot to the salvation army. I don’t know how I ended up with so many!
Have a great night!
okay, you had me laughing out loud when i read about the purple foot. you poor thing! i really hope you get the new digs, i love apartments that have 2 levels, they feel much more home-y. funny about the biking, i think you should still just believe you developed some ultra quick new biking tactics
love a good protein bowl. i should really try to cook with tofu more often, i really like it but only eat it when i am out. oh and i should definitely do that challenge! i am SUCH a clutter queen pack rat to the max. i think we are having a yard sale soon though! that will be nice. $$$ and more room! ill check that challenge link out. hope you get a song up here soooon!
It’s such a luxury to back to sleep after breakfast
I love doing it on the weekends or vacation. Killer breakfast!
Yours and the other video posts floating around blogworld have inspired me to do one…I tried shooting one last night and it was so much harder than I thought it would be! My eyes were daring all over the place and I just looked really nervous and stupid. Any tips?!
I hope the apartment works out!
I hope you get the aparment! It sounds awesome! I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you…
Woah. That wall of wind during your biking sound tough. But I have to say, over 500 calories burnt? That’s so awesome! What a good number!
When exams are over, I’m de-cluttering too. My room looks a bomb site right now (which is unlike me… I’m usually pretty organised).
I’m sad I didn’t get to hear you sing
Good luck with the apartment!
I’m glad biking is growing on you. It truly is something I just love to do now, and I used to hate biking. It’s amazing what getting a bike that fits you can do. Wind sucks, though. Especially wind on hills!
Have you not been able to find the Chai Luna bars up there? I can send you some if you want.
keeping my fingers crossed for the apartment!
do you have any tips for new bikers? I have been looking for a while for a new sport/exercise since the list of stuff I can’t do is pretty long, but I think biking might be okay…though I haven’t ridden since I was about 11 so have no clue!
enjoy your Wednesday!
